Standard 8- Foster Positive and productive relationships with families and the community
*A school community is one big professional team working together to benefit the students and each other. Teachers must actively contribute to these professional teams to enhance student learning and improve their own teaching and learning process. Team skills are vital, as a teacher must demonstrate their ability to participate and contribute effectively in a range of professional teams. Planning with colleagues and the teaching team is integral in creating and supporting student learning and the wide variety of learning experiences needed throughout a school year.
*I therefore believe that adopting a shared methodology with other staff members is needed. As a pre service and soon to be graduate teacher, I recognize the importance of the knowledge of my colleagues from their many number of teaching years. I hope to become a part of this team, learning from my experienced colleagues and sharing the new knowledge that I will gain.
*I feel that attending and contributing to Professional Development days and various school and staff meetings will give me a huge step in the right direction even if it requires taking on an extra workload.
